Oops! I realised I haven’t posted anything for more than a month!
July has been a bit crazy though, so I’m sure I can be pardoned?
What’s been happening, you ask? Well, first of all, I started a new job and am now working 3 days a week, so that coupled with the fact that housework doesn’t get done by just giving it mean stares, I’m pretty buggered most days.
Then, there’s also the fact that SMASH! is coming up in Sydney next weekend, and I’ve been busy preparing for it.
This year will be my first time attending, and I’ll be a part of the ABJD photography panel as well as the ABJD faceup workshop. I’ve been trying to prep for the 2 panels, but it’s slow going, seeing that I haven’t been all that inspired to take any doll photos for my own pleasure lately, and I have been on a short hiatus from faceup commissions. Nonetheless, I am very excited about attending SMASH! next weekend!
Note to self: Need to update website before SMASH! too. And shamelessly pimp out the Faireground forum to all the ABJD enthusiasts that’ll be at the convention!

I know in the grand scheme of things, no one really cares about this, and to be honest, I’m probably the only one that is annoyed by it, but an acquaintance of mine just started up a simple website taking commissions for doll faceups, and the format in which it was presented happened to be a bit -too- familiar to me.
In other words, I’m pretty sure it was a copy/paste job from my commission page with post-editing to suit their website.
No one’s going to notice it other than me, really. But I worked hard to come up with the contents of my website, so it stings a bit when someone can’t even be bothered at least to properly paraphrase the whole chunk of text.
Better yet, they could have just come up with original text in the first place. It’s not rocket science, y’know.

Starting to notice that it’s winter now; the weather getting chilly and we’ve been getting so much rain lately too! The poor garden’s getting soaked. >_<
Wordpress has also just released version 2.8, and I've installed the new version and am liking what I see so far!
In other news, the Faireground forum is coming along nicely! It’s been about 2 weeks’ since we launched the forum, and we’re up to 88 members. Hopefully we’ll break 100 soon!

It was a while in the making, but the Faireground forum is now open!
In short, the forum’s Australian based, and it will hopefully be a place for dollfie owners around the country to gather online to chat and organise doll meets. There’s also a small marketplace for people to request for or sell any dolly goods without the hassle of any overseas shipping.
I know it’s been attempted before and didn’t really take off, but here’s hoping it’ll have a good run!

Have to pack the bag again as I’m due to fly back to Newcastle later today. How time flies – my near fornight long trip in Melbourne is coming to an end!
It was lovely being back in Melbourne again catching up with family and friends, but I’m actually looking forward to going back to Newcastle too and seeing the boy again.

It was fun to see so many people at the Blythe exhibition opening night at Robio last Friday and also to see so many Blythe custom dolls, handmade clothes and artwork!
Below are just a few photos from the show:

Arrived safely in Melbourne on Tuesday night; it was nice and cool but it started to drizzle as I was waiting for the tram back to my parents’ place. Typical Melbourne weather!
Went down to Robio yesterday to drop off 2 photo prints for the upcoming Blythe exhibition (opens this Friday at 6pm), and then spent time getting reacquainted with parts of the city on foot – strolled along streets of Fitzroy and Collingwood and browsed through various shops – I love the vibes this city gives off!
Then of course, i went back into the city and got a bubble tea before heading home – got a cup of kumquat green tea with double serving of pearls. Mmm, yum!

Since moving to Newcastle, I’ve started taking commissions for dolly faceups again, and this was one that I’d recently completed that I liked very much.
She’s a Volks Amelia, and the owner wanted her to be feminine, yet somewhat sexy. Generally, I do feel that this sculpt looks better as a male doll, but I had fun repainting this one as a girl anyway! Somehow, she reminds me of an old hollywood beauty.
I’m going to be flying back to Melbourne tomorrow for a short holiday, so won’t be able to work on any faceups for the next week or so, but when I’m back, I’ll be waiting on a few new commissions to arrive, so am looking forward to that!

Poeme doesn’t look too happy that I made her impersonate the Easter Bunny.
Hope everyone (who celebrates it) has a happy Easter though!
